Fans have been eager for months to see MS Dhoni, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain, again in action since the IPL 2021 was suspended mid-way due to the covid-19 outbreak. Their wait will be over in less than a month’s time as the remainder of the season is set to resume from September 19, in the UAE this time.

The CSK contingent have completed their quarantine in Dubai and have already begun their practise and training sessions.

In the latest nets session, MS Dhoni was seen in his ballistic mood with the bat, something which has been rare following his international retirement as he has had a lacklustre season and a half in the IPL.

The right-hander whacked plenty of gigantic sixes in the session, against both pacers and spinners, the video of which the franchise uploaded on their social media handles.

“Dhoni’s Sixes. Our love for Thala. Out of bounds,” CSK captioned the video.

Funnily, memories of childhood rekindled as the skipper and his teammates then went ball-searching in the nearby greenery are, comprised of trees and bushes.

CSK return to form in the first leg in hunt for a fourth IPL title

After a disappointing season last year – CSK failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time – the Yello Army roared back with 5 wins in 7 matches and are placed second on the points table.

The addition of Moeen Ali has been a revelation for the side. The England all-rounder scored 206 runs at a strike rate of 157.25, while Ruturaj Gaikwad, Faf du Plessis, and Ravindra Jadeja have handled things very well at the top and lower order. MS Dhoni, however, has found it difficult to get going.

In the bowling department, Deepak Chahar and Sam Curran have been CSK’s leading pacers with Jadeja, Ali, Shardul Thakur and Lungi Ngidi playing the supporting role. They will take on defending champions Mumbai Indians in the first game back in the UAE.
