WATCH: Runaway lock scores OUTRAGEOUS length of the pitch try in Japan
Brave Lupus lock Warner Dearns ran the length of the pitch to score an insane try against Kubota Spears on Saturday in Japan Rugby League One.
The 20-year-old lock put in a massive shift for Brave Lupus, making 12 carries and 13 tackles in the 46-27 loss to Kubota Spears.
Dearns’ mammoth shift was capped off with a remarkable try starting inside his own 22.
Runaway try
Kubota were on the attack, launched from a lineout inside the Brave Lupus half. They spread the ball wide to the right-hand corner.
However, the ball spilt loose, and flanker Takeo Suenaga attempted to get it away to a teammate. But replacement hooker Daigo Hashimoto was quick to react and intercepted the pass.
He got the ball away to Dearns, who raced out of his 22. He outpaced two Kubota players and tore away downfield to finish off the score.

Dearns looked exhausted, and understandably so, as he dotted down with just a few minutes left to play – a massive shift from the second-rower.
Unfortunately, his efforts were in vain as Kubota secured a 46-27 victory. Former Stormers centre Rikus Pretorius scored the opener for the side with further tries from Koga Nezuka, Springbok hooker Malcolm Marx and Vailea Halatoa giving them a 27-7 half-time lead.
Haruto Kida touched down twice in the second half for Kubota, with Gerhard van den Heever adding another.

The Japanese international has a knack for scoring runaway tries. Last October, he did this against the All Blacks after charging down scrum-half Finlay Christie.
Dearns made his Test debut for the Brave Blossoms in November 2021. The New Zealand-born lock qualifies for Japan through residency, having lived there since he was 14.
Sport and rugby runs in the family as he is the son of former Silver Ferns (New Zealand netball team) player Tanya Dearns and ex-Hawke’s Bay, now NEC Green Rockets Tokatsu strength and conditioning coach, Grant Dearns.
