Liverpool can consider themselves lucky after still remaining in third position following the weekend's action.

Their last match was a 1-2 home defeat to Crystal Palace but with the Manchester clubs drawing and Arsenal losing to second place Tottenham, Jurgen Klopp's side still find themselves in the top three of the Premier League with 66 points.

It is now imperative that Liverpool avoid dropping further points if they wish to remain in the top four as they head to Vicarage Road with Adam Lallana back in training.

Jurgen Klopp and Adam Lallana

The England midfielder has been out of action for five weeks ever since sustaining a thigh injury on international duty but is back in training along with Daniel Sturridge who missed Liverpool's defeat against Palace due to a sore hip.

As for Watford, while they should consider themselves safe from relegation, it is still not mathematically confirmed.

The Hornets are currently in 13th place, eight points above 18th place Swansea who have played 35 league games, however, Walter Mazzarri's side have two games in hand.

Tom Cleverley

Watford lost their last game to relegation threatened Hull City and will be looking to bounce back with a positive result against Liverpool.

With just two points needed to confirm Premier League safety for another season, Watford should be able to pull it off, especially with some good form at Vicarage Road with four wins in their last six home games.

However, they will be without the likes of Craig Cathcart. Younes Kaboul, Roberto Pereyra and Mauro Zarate.

What managers say

Walter Mazzarri: "Our target was to be mathematically safe and we still are not mathematically safe, [but] we are very near safety. They [Liverpool] will be very angry, because they lost at home [to Crystal Palace]. I hope my players are more angry than them, because we lost our last game and conceded six against Liverpool earlier this year," via BBC Sport.

Jurgen Klopp: "At the beginning of the season, when we were first or second in the table and all that stuff, I said the only thing we can do is to be in the battle for the interesting positions at the end of the season. Yes, it would be nice if we had 10 points more and fight with Chelsea for the title, but that's not for us obviously in this moment. So we have to fight for what we can fight for and that's a Champions League place. That's really, really interesting, to be honest," via BBC Sport.
