Wayne Rooney says he is only focused on ending the season well with Manchester United, adding that he has not given thought to his future beyond this summer.

Rooney, 31, has lost his place in the United first-team under Jose Mourinho this season and has been linked with a summer return to boyhood club Everton.

However, a serious knee injury to Zlatan Ibrahimovic has brought Rooney back into Mourinho's plans with the England international starting and scoring in the club's 2-0 win at Burnley last weekend.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Rooney said his experience could help United win the Europa League and make top four in the Premier League.

I feel I can contribute quality, composure, experience, and know-how, how to get over the line, whether it's to win the league or finish top four or get to the final," United's all-time record goalscorer said.

"That's a lot of experience I can contribute to the team.

"Of course it's good to be back. I want to be back playing, and hopefully between now and the end of the season and leave a mark on the games I play."

Rooney has also been linked with a big-money move to China, with his agent Paul Stretford flying to the country to hold talks with Chinese Super League clubs in February.

However, the 31-year-old insisted that he could play top-level football in Europe for at least another three years.

"I'm 31, not an old person. Of course, I've played a lot of games," Rooney said.

"Who knows, not playing so many games this season might benefit me."

Rooney, who has more than two years left on his United contract, was tight-lipped when questioned about whether he will still be at Old Trafford next season.

"My focus at the minute is helping us reach the Europa League final, and to win it, and help us get to the top four. That's my focus at the minute," he said.
