Wayne Rooney: Documentary on Plymouth Argyle boss has begun filming
A production company has begun filming for a behind-the-scenes documentary about Wayne Rooney and his role as Plymouth Argyle's head coach.
It is still at the very early stages and a lot of the exact details are still to be finalised, but it is likely to be shown by a streaming service next summer. Given Rooney's huge worldwide profile it should attract a lot of interest and publicity.
Football documentaries have become massively popular, with EFL clubs Sunderland and Wrexham among those to have featured in very successful series, and now Argyle - with Rooney in the Home Park hotseat - are set to come under the same spotlight.

A production crew were at Home Park for Argyle's recent 1-0 Championship win against Portsmouth, which coincided with the club's impressively-staged Remembrance commemorations.
Some filming was also carried out when the Pilgrims drew 1-1 at Derby County in their last match before the current international break. That marked Rooney's first return to the club where he ended his outstanding playing career and started out in management.
Filming is expected to take place on and off over the coming months and capture Rooney at work, and perhaps out and about in Plymouth, as he tries to guide Argyle to an improved 2024/25 Championship campaign after they narrowly avoided relegation to League One last term.
Having England legend Rooney was always likely to raise the profile of Argyle, who often do not attract much national media scrutiny given their location in the far south-west of England, and this is another example of how his presence has impacted coverage of the club.
Rooney is no stranger to filming a documentary. He was the subject of a feature-length film in 2022 which looked back at his career as a player, most notably at Manchester United and for England. It also delved into his off-field life as he discussed his life's most important moments in interviews.
