WTA star Madison Keys and her long-time boyfriend and ATP professional Bjorn Fratangelo have announced their engagement.

Keys and Fratangelo are one of several couples made up of professionals from the men’s and women’s top tours and have been together for some time.

The couple started dating back in 2017 according to sources close to both players.

Keys and Fratangelo have teamed up to play mixed doubles on the odd occasion.

They made the announcement over Instagram, revealing the engagement ring that Fratangelo presented to Keys.

“Forever,” she captioned the Instagram post, followed by a white heart emoji.

Fellow Americans Jessica Pegula, Sloane Stephens, Frances Tiafoe and Desirae Krawczyk were among the first to congratulate the couple on their engagement.

“Yesssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are getting married!!!!!!!!!!!,” wrote Stephens in the comments.

Tiafoe was particularly impressed by the engagement ring on display in the announcement.

“That ring is tuuuufffff”

Jessica Pegula, who is married to Taylor Gahagen, also congratulated her fellow WTA Tour.

“Bjorn [lock] that up,” she said using the infamous lock emoji that has become something of an inside joke in American tennis thanks to Taylor Fritz’s poor drawing of the image was mistaken for a lewd reference.

The pair first played mixed doubles together in 2021 at the US Open and although they lost in straight sets, Keys insists that she savours the experience.

“Of all the memories you have of all the matches, it’s obviously the people you are with who make those moments. To be able to have a moment on court together I think is definitely something that is going to stick in my mind,” she said after the match.

She revealed that it was Fratangelo who was pushing to pair up in competition, which she initially resisted.

“He finally wore me down. I was always just saying I was going to be so nervous and I was going to have to try so hard, but he finally said, ‘We’ll just have some fun.’ I’m very happy that we did it,” she added.

The couple played together again at the 2022 US Open.

Keys enjoyed a career-best ranking seventh in the world and is a former US Open singles finalist, having played the 2017 championship match.

Meanwhile, her soon-to-be husband has previously cracked the top 100 as his best effort in singles competition. She has won events at WTA 250, 500 and 1000 level. Her biggest win came at the 2019 Cincinnati Open.
