Wednesday's Daily Fantasy Champions League tips for Gameweek 6

Wednesday's Champions League fixtures may have little up for grabs, but there are plenty of Daily Fantasy points (and cash) still at stake if you're smart about it.

In Group E, the top two (Monaco and Bayer Leverkusen) face off in Germany with both sides unable to change their standings. Monaco have flown under the radar to an extent but are one of the highest-scoring sides in Europe’s top leagues this season, but goals could be at a premium with nothing to play for. The best value for points here could be in the defence with Monaco's Djibril Sidibe, Benjamin Mendy and Fabinho both decent options at £14m. At £23m Chicharito should probably be avoided at all costs. In the group’s other match, Spurs host CSKA Moscow at Wembley with a place in the Europa League on the line. Spurs may have thrashed Swansea on Saturday but they have struggled in Champions League - especially at Wembley – however CSKA haven't kept a clean sheet in the Champions League for a couple of years, which could see Harry Kane (£22m) worth a punt. Their defence has also been in good form, so Hugo Lloris (£15m), Danny Rose and Kyle Walker (both £14m) could all be a good shout. Alan Dzagoev (£19m) looks key to breaking the Lilywhites down.

Group F undoubtedly has the clash of the round as Real Madrid host Borussia Dortmund, with Cristiano Ronaldo (£32m) and co needing a win to finish top. Both sides have been involved in plenty of goals, so maybe avoid defenders (and the injured Mario Gotze) and stick with the attackers. If you're looking at defenders, Dani Carvajal is Madrid's cheapest defender, but also the top scoring. For Dortmund Christian Pulisic (£17m) could be a point of difference in your team outside of the pricier usual suspects like Aubameyang (£28m) and Reus (£26m). Whatever you do, avoid picking any defenders from Legia Warsaw when they host Sporting Lisbon – they’ve haemorrhaged 24 goals in their five games but they won’t die wondering either – their goals against Real and Dortmund are testament to that. However, expect Sporting to restore normality and secure third place.

In Group G Leicester will once again be desperate for another Premier League distraction against Porto and with only one goal conceded in what is a low-scoring group, goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler (£13m) and defenders Christian Fuchs (£13m) and Wes Morgan (£14m) should be affordable options at the back. In what should be a low scoring match, at £15m Porto defender Alex Telles is an attractive propostion. In the other match, Copenhagen travel to whipping boys Club Brugge – without so much as even point so far – knowing a win will send them into the Last 16 with the Foxes. Goals are a distinct possibility and in Andreas Cornelius (£17m) and Federico Santander (£14m) they have two strikers who could do just that, and with Brugge struggling in front of goal, defender Ludwig Augustinsson could be good value for his £17m.

If there was ever a banker in this Daily Fantasy round, it should be signing Juventus goalkeepr Gigi Buffon. The Group H leaders have the best defence in the group and host bottom-placed Dinamo Zagreb, who have yet to even score this season a clean sheet seems an almost-certainty (although he may not have to make many saves, which at £16m could be a risk), and Gonzalo Higuain (£27m) should hit the back of net with Claudio Marchisio a steal at £16m. The other match sees Lyon travel to Sevilla knowing they must win by 2 goals to leapfrog their LaLiga opponents. Alexandre Lacazette (£25m) will be crucial to their chances to progress, but this could be a cagey affair with Sevilla in the driving seat so defenders Gabriel Mercado and Sergio Escudero (£17m) should help keep Lyon at bay.
