WC falls to NK

BICKNELL — The Washington Catholic Cardinals fell to North Knox, 69-14 on Friday. Isaac Halter led with eight points, while Aiden Henry rounded out the scoring with six points.

WC fell to 1-14 and play North Central on Thursday. With the win North Knox moved to 6-11.

The Barr Reeve Lady Vikings were back in action on Saturday morning in the Blue Chip Tourney at Washington Catholic. The Lady Vikings jumped out to a 16-4 lead after one quarter. Mixing in some reserves with some starters the Lady Vikings took a 22- 6 lead at halftime. With starters back in the Vikings used a very strong third quarter to take a 42-10 lead after three quarters and ended up winning 42-12.

JJ Knepp led the way 12 points. Shelby Dobson scored nine, Shay Knepp tallied nine. Avery Wittmer and Ava Graber each scored four. Molly Jo Anderson got a bucket for her two points.

The 8th Grade Lady Vikings run their record to 11-6 and will play at South Knox Monday night in the next round of the Blue Chip Conference Tournament.

NDJH Lady Cougars advance

The Junior High North Daviess Lady Cougars got two wins Saturday to advance to the SWIAC Championship. They faced WRV in the quarterfinal game and got out to a quick start which led to a 25-8 lead at halftime and went onto to a 37-21 victory. They were very balanced in this game and were led with 10 points by Lola Graber. Maleah Lengacher and Shaylee Graber both contributed points each. Peyton Cates added seven points. Aubrey Ferguson and Leah Knepp rounded out ND with two points each.

In the semi-final game, ND faced Bloomfield and held an 18-11 halftime lead but had a dominating 15-0 third quarter to go on to win 39-19. Maleah Lengacher led the Lady Cougars with a season high 18 points. Shaylee Graber and Peyton Cates was next with six and five points respectively. Lola Graber added four points. Natalie Wagler, Kealy Graber and Karli Clidienst had two points each to round out the Lady Cougars.

The 17-2 Lady Cougars will face Linton in the SWIAC Championship Monday Night at Clay City.

WJHS falls to Heritage Hills

MT. VERNON — Washington Junior High eighth grade girls made the long trip to Mt. Vernon to play Heritage Hills Saturday morning in the semifinals. WJHS eighth grade Lady Hatchets would find themselves in a backyard battle with Heritage Hills where great defense and hard work each and every possession was needed. Tied 37-37 with 1:46 left in the game, WJHS turned the ball over a couple times, and Heritage Hill would hit their free throws down the stretch. When the dust settled, Washington fell 46-37. They finished with a final four finish in the PAC tournament and will travel to Jasper Monday evening to play in the Jasper Invite Tourney.

Vikes fall to ND

The Barr Reeve Junior High Girls Vikings battled North Daviess on Thursday night for their last home game. In two quarters ND out on top 12-3. The Lady couldn't get the ball to go into the basket. JJ Knepp scored two and Molly Jo Anderson scored one. The seventh grade ends the season with a 7-9 record.

In the eighth-grade game was close throughout. B-R had a 22-19 lead at halftime but North Daviess used a very good third quarter to take a 25-16 lead after three. BR played an exceptional fourth quarter and JJ Knepp hit a 3-pointer at the end to send the game into overtime, tied 31-31. B-R then lost some players to fouls trouble early in overtime, and the Lady Cougars came away with a 36-31 victory. JJ Knepp led the way with 16 points, Shay Knepp chipped in with six. Shelby Dobson scored five and Ava Graber hit for four. B-R drops to 10-6 on the season.
