While the Serie A resumes this weekend with a blockbuster match between Napoli and Juventus, Napoli fans have welcomed back Gonzalo Higuain by selling toilet paper pictured with his face.
When the 29-year-old Argentine striker transferred from Napoli to Juventus for £75m before the start of the season, El Pipita left the Partenopei fans in disarray and anger. The ultras of the southern Italian club ripped and burnt jerseys with his name printed on them when the league's top goalscorer left for northern rivals, Juventus.
The Bianconeri have travelled to the Campania region this week to face off with Napoli in two battles. The first match will be a Serie A fixture and the latter being a second-leg Coppa Italia semi-final. Juve will have to make themselves comfortable in Naples for the next week.
Higuain is now considered a traitor by the once adoring fans of Napoli. He n
ow has his face pictured on toilet paper being sold as merchandise on the streets of Naples and as well as being photoshopped on a toilet seat.
However, this will be a monumental homecoming for the goalscoring machine as he returns for the first time since he moved to the 32-time Serie A champions. The former
Capocannoniere (Serie A Golden Boot winner) has made a reasonable start with the Turin giants, although, he hasn't been able to replicate the goalscoring record he broke last season.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis disagreed with the move at the time, wondering how could a player leave a club where he scored 36 goals in 35 games in just one season and where he was loved by all the fans.
Higuain has already scored twice past Maurizio Sarri's men and will look to do so again when he enters the San Paolo stadium this Sunday night.
