“If You Can Do Well In IPL, International Cricket Becomes Much Easier”– Mustafizur Rahman

Bangladesh’s frontline pacer, Mustafizur Rahman, feels that the IPL is one of the biggest platforms, and performing in the tournament makes life much easier in the international circuit.

Mustafizur and senior all-rounder, Shakib al Hasan, are expected to get NOC’s from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for their participation in the IPL. Since England’s tour of Bangladesh was postponed, the two are now available for their franchises.

The left-arm bowler has seen a meteoric rise in his career after eye-catching performances in the IPL. Speaking to Cricbuzz on August 17, the Bangladeshi was confident heading into the upcoming mega-events.

“Naturally (I am confident) for the upcoming series against New Zealand, IPL, and ICC T20 World Cup because I am in a good rhythm now and hope to carry on with it.”

“What I feel is that playing in the IPL helps to perform at the international level because you are playing against the best there and I feel that if you can do well there (IPL) than international cricket, it becomes much easier,” he pointed out.

Mustafizur plays for the Rajasthan Royals, who are currently languishing in the bottom half of the table. He hopes to do well for his team in the second leg of IPL 2021, which will also serve as preparation for the 2021 T20 World Cup.

“World’s best players compete in this tournament and if you are successful, certainly it will raise your confidence. And I am sure that will be the case with me because if I do well in IPL, then certainly I will be carrying loads of confidence going into the World Cup,” the 25-year-old added.

In the most recent series against Australia, Mustafizur was almost unplayable. His variations were bamboozling the Aussie batsmen, who struggled to come to terms with him. In the IPL 2021, he didn’t have the best of times but the RR coaching staff has been helpful, as per ‘The Fizz’.

“There was a coach called Sid Lahiri and he helped me a lot in Rajasthan’s camps. In fact, not only him but everyone spoke small good things and it felt very good.”

“Actually, I am always eager to learn and some small advice like what I need to do in certain situations can help me analyse things better when I am in the middle. I need to work on my back-hand slower (delivery). I have got control on it reasonably but need to sharpen it more,” he expressed.

Mustafizur Rahman will next be seen playing for Bangladesh in the 5-match T20I series against New Zealand at home, starting from September 1.
