Wes Bergmann and wife Amanda Hornick are currently expecting their first child together

MTV reality star Wes Bergmann has been married to his wife Amanda Hornick since 2018.

Bergmann, who many may know from his appearances on multiple seasons of The Challenge as well as The Real World: Austin made a bold first move on Hornick while they were both out at a bar. Obviously, it worked: the couple got engaged in 2016, and tied the knot during an intimate ceremony attended by some of his MTV pals in 2018.

The pair spend their time in Kansas City, Missouri, where Hornick is a yoga instructor, lifestyle blogger and recruiter for a design company. When she’s not busy with work, she’s often taking cute pictures of her husband and their dog, Penny, to share with the world.

What's more, the two are expanding their family as Hornick is pregnant their first child together. The couple announced the news in April and Baby Bergmann is expected to arrive in September.

They met at a bar

In a wedding anniversary post on Instagram, Hornick shared a few fun details about how she and Bergmann first met.

“I’m REALLY glad you walked up to that table of 13 guys + me and told me I was really beautiful and that you wanted to buy me a drink but only if I followed you to the bar across the street because you were leaving,” she wrote in the caption.

Bergmann proposed to Hornick at a Kansas City Royals game

The MTV star asked Hornick to marry him in September 2016 at a Kansas City Royals baseball game. Shortly after, he shared the exciting news on Instagram with a short and sweet caption. “She said yes!” he wrote.

A later Instagram post from Hornick suggested that she was completely surprised by the proposal. In honor of their four year wedding anniversary, she shared behind-the-scenes details about the special moment.

“Anyone else out there who was so shocked while they were getting proposed to that they couldn’t answer for like 2 min. and made everyone else feel uncomfortable?? 😬🙋‍♀️," she captioned then-and-now photos of them.

Bergmann and Hornick got married in June 2018

The happy couple tied the knot on June 1, 2018, at the Overland Park Arboretum in Overland Park, Kansas. She wore a lace halter-neck dress and carried a bouquet of white and pale pink flowers surrounded by greenery. She accessorized with sprigs of baby’s breath in her hair and eye-catching diamond earrings. He opted for a blue-and-teal checked suit jacket, light blue shirt and black pants.

Their wedding was something of a Real World: Austin reunion, with Bergmann’s castmates Nehemiah Clark, Lacey Buehler, Rachel Moyal and Melinda Stolp attending the celebration along with The Challenge’s Devin Walker.

They are expecting their first baby

On April 5, 2023, the couple shared the news that Amanda was pregnant. In a joint Instagram post featuring several photos of the couple posing with ultrasound images, they wrote “Baby Bergmann, coming this September."

They thanked family and friends who have been supporting them and also shared a heartfelt message. “While we are entering into this new stage of life with immense gratitude, we know the season of waiting too and send love & strength to anyone else hoping to one day become parents themselves,” read their message.

They have a bernedoodle named Penny

As followers may have noticed in the Instagram photo announcing their pregnancy, Bergmann and Hornick are also pet parents. They share a dog named Penny, whose birthday is Aug. 7, 2021, according to Hornick’s Instagram.

In a post celebrating Penny’s birthday in 2022, Hornick wrote, “Whether she’s stealing our socks & underwear and leaving them around the house in front of guests, or just crawling into bed for cuddles ... life is just better with her.”

She is a yoga teacher and manager for an infrastructure design firm

Hornick’s social media indicates that she is a yoga teacher, Lululemon ambassador and a recruiting manager for HNTB, an infrastructure firm. According to her LinkedIn profile, she’s been working at HNTB since January 2018. She previously worked at the University of Kansas as a senior coordinator and at William Jewell College as a senior admissions counselor.

They live in Kansas City, Missouri

Bergmann and Hornick reside in Kansas City, Missouri — and are seemingly passionate about their home city. Hornick's Instagram profile describes her as a “KC blogger” and she frequently recommends Kansas City-based businesses and activities on her social media, in addition to showing her support for local sports teams. She also appeared on a podcast called Wellness for the Win for an episode titled “Your Ultimate Guide to Kansas City.”

She volunteers with Girls on the Run

When she’s not busy with one of her many jobs or chasing after Penny, Hornick spends her time giving back to the community. Her LinkedIn profile indicates that she is involved with Girls on the Run, an organization that inspires girls to build confidence and life-skills through thoughtful lessons and physical activity.

She briefly lived in London

Hornick’s LinkedIn and Instagram indicate that she studied abroad in London at Regent’s College while earning her bachelor’s degree at Drury University.

“I spent a semester abroad in London in college & it really was one of the best experiences of my life," she wrote on Instagram in September 2021. "I’d never been out of the country before that and I traveled to nine countries in Europe that semester- it really opened my eyes to ways of living & cultures much different than my own, & made me want to see & do more to understand the world better.”
