Though they might have taken their foot off the pedal as a result of the secure position in the standings, Tony Pulis' men invariably raise their game against the biggest teams in the league and can be expected to do the same for the visit of the Reds.

Liverpool's victory over Stoke City was a huge result not only in the context of the league table, but also the Reds' psyche.

It leaves Jurgen Klopp's men in a positive frame of mind going into another away test at West Brom and also means, with another three more points in the bank, that a draw at the Hawthorns would not be a disaster if they can beat Crystal Palace at home to end the month.

Liverpool have won four and drawn two of their past six games despite battling with various injuries to key players and have a six-point advantage over Manchester United, who have played two games fewer.

They are now firm favourites with most bookmakers to get over the line and qualify for the Champions League, with 1/4 odds the best currently available to back them to finish in the top four.

The Baggies' small squad is feeling the effects of a long season and they are unlikely to rise or fall out of eighth or ninth, but the visit of one of the Premier League's big guns will inevitably boost motivation levels.

Klopp switched to a 3-5-2 formation to prepare for a battle at Stoke and may stick with that system here for what should be a similarly difficult match.
