The signing of Nayef Aguerd at West Ham United could be announced soon, as club insiders have reportedly confirmed the transfer is done.

Aguerd was a target of West Ham’s last summer. The Hammers were in the market for a centre-back, but were rebuffed by the Rennes defender.

As such, David Moyes’ side signed Kurt Zouma and Craig Dawson. The pair were both utilised throughout the season in a number of competitions.

It seems the Hammers are still keen on another centre-back signing, though. Indeed, they have been linked with a move for Aguerd again in the summer window.

The Moroccan has had a good season in Ligue 1. He played in every league game he was available for, as Rennes finished fourth in the league.

The side kept 12 clean sheets in the 31 league games Aguerd was in the side for. In fact, they conceded just 40 goals in the league all season – the fourth-lowest total in Ligue 1.

West Ham‘s pursuit appears to be going well, too. One source has revealed that people inside the club have confirmed the transfer already.

“I’ve spoken to a couple of people in the club who have all confirmed it [Aguerd signing],” he said via West Ham Way.

If that is true, West Ham’s defensive ranks should be improved for the coming season.

They had some injury troubles over the last campaign, and more depth and quality can only be a good thing for them.

Aguerd has reportedly been seen with a West Ham shirt according to the source, which points to the signing being complete.

“There were even photos taken of him with the shirt, so unless things have dramatically changed and this doesn’t happen, because I don’t believe it’s a done deal, but I would be surprised if he doesn’t sign,” he said.

It also seems that the signing of Aguerd may soon be announced by West Ham.

“It may be even announced on the day that the kits are launched, whenever that is,” he added.

Following on from a good couple of seasons with Rennes, Aguerd appears a top player. West Ham taking him on board at the club seems a great piece of business, that could help them to climb the league table.
