West Ham will travel to face Celtic in a pre-season friendly ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

David Moyes’ side are due to travel to Glasgow on Saturday, July 24 for the confirmed fixture at Parkhead - a ground West Ham have not visited for more than 20 years.

West Ham additionally announced that they will receive a full allocation of away tickets for the 3pm BST fixture, should Covid-19 protocols allow that number of supporters to attend.

The fixture should provide a good summer test for the Hammers, who will be preparing for a return to European football having secured a Europa League berth courtesy of their first top-six finish in the Premier League this century secured with a 3-0 final day win over Southampton that took place in front of 10,000 returning fans at London Stadium.

It was a remarkable campaign of progress under former Celtic defender Moyes, who took West Ham from relegation battlers to pushing for a Champions League spot in just a few months.

However, the 2020/21 campaign was decidedly less successful for Celtic, who missed out on the Scottish Premiership title for the first time in a decade as fierce rivals Rangers went unbeaten under Steven Gerrard and finished 25 points clear at the summit.

Having previously claimed a famous ‘treble treble’, Celtic ended a hugely disappointing season trophyless as they were eliminated from the group stages of the Europa League and St Johnstone pulled off a rare double triumph in the Scottish domestic cup competitions.

Reports suggest that former Bournemouth stalwart Eddie Howe could finally be confirmed as Celtic’s new manager soon, with John Kennedy having been in interim charge since Neil Lennon resigned in February.
