Tony Cottee is backing Wolverhampton Wanderers to finish as the best of the rest in their first season back in the Premier League.

Under the guidance of Nuno Espirito Santo, Wolves have carried on the good form that saw them win the Championship at a canter and look set for a top half finish.

They have won three of their past four games, sit eighth in the table and with a squad full of quality, have lofty ambitions in the top-flight.

Cottee, speaking to Yahoo Sport presents: The Football Show, said he thinks Wolves can aim for seventh and replicate Burnley’s achievements from last year.

“Well I wouldn’t say the bottom of the table, but there is a team called Wolverhampton Wanderers who are doing very well at the moment,” Cottee said, when asked what he thought of the bottom half of the table.

“I saw a lot of them in the Championship last year, they’ve got some good players, spent well in the summer, a good manager, a nice ground and everything is going in the right direction.

“They’ve had fantastic results. I reckon they have an outside chance of finishing seventh. We all know there is a top six and you look at Burnley finishing sixth, I think Wolves have got a good chance.”
