After Thilo Kehrer turned into his own net, the Hammers responded impressive and put in a brilliant second-half performance.
Tomas Soucek got the equaliser and West Ham could well have snatched all three points late on, as Spurs just about held on.
Here’s how David Moyes’ side rated at the London Stadium...
Lukasz FabiaÅski 6
Has a fine recent penalty record but still would have been relieved not to have to face one from Kane. Blameless for the goal.
Vladimir Coufal 6
Struggled against the menacing Perisic. One gorgeous flick would have been better had he the pace to get on the end of it.
Thilo Kehrer 5
A penalty conceded in his first home match and now an own goal scored in his second. In fairness, Son would have tapped in had he not got there first.
Kurt Zouma 7
In the wars, clocking blows from Lloris and Richarlison at either end of the match, but solid again.
Aaron Cresswell 6
Looked to have conceded early penalty but saved by VAR and his face.
Declan Rice 6
Dart into Spurs box left the space for devastating counter which opened the scoring.
Tomas Soucek 7
Run into the box and finish was like the Soucek of a couple of seasons ago.
Jarrod Bowen 6
Looks painfully out of sorts on the ball but pressing caused Spurs problems. Not far from putting Hammers ahead with difficult chance.
Pablo Fornals 6
Another lively showing, with versatility at left-wing-back helping Hammers try to match up with Spurs out of possession. Missed brilliant chance to win it, though.
Said Benrahma 5
Has had a bright start to the season but quiet here until replaced by Paqueta.
Michail Antonio 7
Back in the side with Scamacca out ill and almost opened scoring with a brilliant curler off the post, then set up Soucek leveller with superb hold up play.
Lucas Paqueta (Benrahma 67’) 6
Record signing was introduced before kick-off and the sight of him taking off his bib to make debut prompted almost as loud a cheer as Soucek’s goal. He and Emerson left terrific late chance to each other.
Angelo Ogbonna (Cresswell 72’) 6
Experienced head brings such assurance to back line.
Emerson Palmeiri (Fornals 85’)
Unused: Areola, Randolph, Downes, Coventry, Lanzini, Cornet.
