West Ham took control of their own destiny after coming from behind to win 3-1 at West Brom and climb into the Premeir League top six.

Tottenham’s defeat to Aston Villa minutes before kick-off here in the midlands meant David Moyes’s side went out knowing exactly what they needed to do - and a win means one more point on the final day of the season will secure Europa League football.

They went about it the hard way, though: Declan Rice set a new record for the earliest penalty miss in Premier League history, striking the post from the spot after 2 minutes and four seconds.

The Baggies then took the lead as a Matheus Pereira corner skimmed off the head of Tomas Soucek and in at the near post. The Czech responded with an injury time goal at the end of the first half.

A cagey second half played out until West Ham finally took the lead through Angelo Ogbonna’s header, before Michail Antonio made sure of all three points.

Here is how Jack Rosser rated the Hammers...

Darren Randolph 7

Thrown into the startling XI following an injury to Lukasz Fabianski in the warm-up. A couple of hairy moments but calm on the ball and made some decent saves.

Vladimir Coufal 6

Non-stop running from the Czech once more. Struggled against Matheus Pereira at times, and could not have the impact Moyes will have wanted getting forward.

Craig Dawson 6

Solid enough at the back and even tried his luck with an overhead kick in the first half.

Angelo Ogbonna 7

Composed performance from the Italian as usual, tried to keep West Ham heads cool as they scrapped for a winner before claiming it for himself with a fantastic header.

Aaron Cresswell 8

A number of fine set piece deliveries from the full-back, who almost bagged a fine winner when his cheeky free-kick cracked the outside of the post before setting up Ogbonna’s goal.

Tomas Soucek 7

Made amends for his unfortunate role in West Brom’s opener with his 10th Premier League goal of the season.

Declan Rice 7

Makes such a difference to this side. A calming presence in midfield who is just as capable at driving forward as he is putting out fires.

Said Benrahma 7

Unfortunate to be taken off after 71 minutes. A very lively performance and his sixth assist of the season - no other West Ham player has more from open play.

Jesse Lingard 6

A quiet game by his high standards but stayed in it to set up Antonio for the third.

Pablo Fornals 6

Tireless as ever but poor finishing in the final third from the Spaniard who had two fine chances.

Michail Antonio 8

Perhaps should have tucked away his chance in the first minute, but did well to win a penalty. Ran himself into the ground but had little to play with in the final third until the late break. A really clever run to stay onside and did well with a lot of time to think about the finish.

Substitutes

Jarrod Bowen 7

Injected some energy late on for the Hammers and played a key role in winning the corner from which Ogbonna bagged the second goal.

Issa Diop n/a

Subs not used: Balbuena, Yarmolenko, Noble, Fredericks, Johnson, Trott, Odubeko
