David Moyes has revealed that Premier League officials admitted they got big calls wrong in West Ham's last two games.

The Hammers had a strong claim for a penalty at Burnley, a game which ended in a 0-0 draw, while Vladimir Coufal was sent off in the 2-0 defeat at Arsenal.

Now the PGMOL, the group responsible for referees in this country, have informed West Ham that both calls were wrong.

Moyes felt that his side should have been awarded a penalty when Craig Dawson was caught by Dwight McNeil in the box at Turf Moor, though no foul was given and the decision was not reviewed.

Days later, Coufal was shown a red card for two bookable offences - a foul on Kieran Tierney and then a sliding challenge on Alexandre Lacazette inside the box.

Both decisions were questionable, though the second was more controversial as Coufal made contact with the ball first, though Moyes was critical of his player for not making a cleaner challenge.

This call was also not reviewed at the monitor and the Czech is suspended for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup quarter-final at Tottenham.

After another weekend of controversial decisions, Moyes revealed that the PGMOL had admitted their errors.

“I think that this year the referees have had their best performances until the last couple of weeks,” Moyes said.

“We have got clarification from the referees that it was the wrong decision to send (Coufal) off and that we should have had a penalty at Burnley.

“I find it really hard that we have two sets of eyes and they are not getting it correct. I have been a football player and a manager, I would hope if I’m sitting in front of a TV from four or five angles I would have a really good opinion.

“And if I was unsure I'd send the referee over to collaborate rather than leaving it to one person.”
