West Ham: Said Benrahma yet to agree Lyon move as transfer deadline approaches

Said Benrahma's potential West Ham exit is expected to go down to the wire, with the winger still yet to agree terms with Lyon.

Earlier this week, the two clubs reached a deal that would see Benrahma join Lyon on an initial loan until the end of the season, with an obligation to make the switch permanent for around £15million in the summer.

However, the player is yet to give the green light to the move, with negotiations over financial terms ongoing as the deadline approaches.

Benrahma has been present at West Ham’s training ground this week and, as of Thursday morning, had not yet travelled to France, though he will not be involved in tonight’s Premier League meeting with Bournemouth in any case as he serves the second match of a three-game suspension.

David Moyes had hoped to sign a new left-sided forward this month, with Ibrahim Osman, Steven Bergwijn, Jack Clarke and Jota all explored as potential recruits without success.

Pablo Fornals has been a target for Real Betis throughout the window, while Crystal Palace have expressed late interest in Maxwel Cornet, but the failure to bring in reinforcements means neither player is expected to be allowed to leave on Thursday, barring a late twist.

“We are fully aware that we would like to have had a left-sided player,” West Ham boss Moyes said on Wednesday. “I don't think, at the moment, that would happen.”
