A report has revealed how much West Ham want for attacking midfielder Manuel Lanzini, with Turkish club Besiktas setting their sights on him.
Lanzini made 43 appearances for West Ham in all competitions last season, registering seven goals and four assists. He was a useful player for David Moyes as the Hammers finished seventh in the Premier League and reached the Europa League semi-final.
The Argentine’s contract at the London Stadium runs out next summer. According to The Athletic, he has a two-year extension clause in that deal and West Ham could activate it.
However, they are yet to finalise his long-term future and this could lead to a summer exit.
Turkish outlet Fanatik claim Besiktas want to sign Lanzini, as cited by Sport Witness.
Besiktas have reportedly ‘taken action’ to get Lanzini to join. They have asked West Ham for a discounted price due to the 29-year-old’s contract situation.
However, West Ham are holding out for his full valuation. They will accept an offer worth £10.2m.
Manuel Lanzini linked with Super Lig move
This seems surprisingly low for a player of Lanzini’s quality. This fee would see the east Londoners take a £600k loss on the player, who has won five caps for Argentina during his career.
West Ham will be able to demand more if other teams come in for Lanzini. And there is plenty of time left in the transfer window for clubs to register their interest.
But if Lanzini opts against penning a new deal, and Bestikas remain the only side who want to sign him, then West Ham will be forced to accept £10.2m.
After all, this would be better than losing him on a free transfer at the end of next season.
Lanzini has been a loyal servant to the Hammers, featuring in over 200 games and scoring 29 goals.
But his time at the club could be coming to an end if rumours of Besiktas interest are true.
Meanwhile, West Ham coach Stuart Pearce has been speaking about the club’s failed move for Jesse Lingard last year.
