Michail Antonio has been forced to withdraw from the England squad due to injury, West Ham have confirmed.

The 26-year-old sustained a hamstring injury in the Hammers 3-2 home defeat to Leicester City on Saturday.

The Football Association have yet to confirm who will replace the winger in Gareth Southgate’s squad.

Antonio has been in sensational form for the Hammers this season, scoring nine goals and supplying three assists in 27 Premier League appearances this term.

In a short statement released on the West Ham website, the club confirmed: “Antonio was withdrawn from the squad after being assessed by both the Hammers’ and the England medical teams and will remain at Rush Green during the international break.”

Antonio is yet to win a cap for the senior England side.
