The Turkish side Besiktas have been rumoured to be lining up a season-long loan deal for Masuaku for some time, but have been held up by West Ham trying to strenghten the left side of the team by chasing Eintracht Frankfurt's Filip Kostic. The deal to sign Kostic is still ongoing, with various media outlets reporting varying degrees of success and failure in the attempts to lure the Serbian to East London.

If Masuaku does sign the deal there would be an option to buy on a permanent basis, believed to be around £2million which would be a loss of around £4million on the £6m figure he was bought by West Ham from Olympiacos.

The 28-year-old DR Congo international has been at West Ham since 2016 but has struggled to hold down a regular first-team place due to injury, inconsistency and the form of first-choice left-back Aaron Cresswell.

He has been shuffled around the team by West Ham manager David Moyes, often playing on the left-side of midfield to utilise his pace and crossing abilities and to counter his lack of defensive nous.

The loan deal would leave West Ham with one of the smallest squads in the Premier League, and very thin on cover across defence, especially as Issa Diop is expected to be sold to Fulham at some point before the end of the transfer window.
