Graham Westley believes Graham Cummins needs extra protection from officials as the striker looks to land knockout blows for his struggling Preston side.
Cummins has been a success story in the early days of Westley's reign at Deepdale, and grabbed his second goal since arriving from Cork City when he opened the scoring in last Tuesday night's 2-1 defeat at Tranmere.
Westley equates the 24-year-old's battling spirit with that of Sylvester Stallone's on-screen boxing hero Rocky Balboa, but believes Cummins' honesty is leaving him short changed in terms of decisions.
"His problem is that he's straight out of the Rocky Balboa mode - he just takes punishment, after punishment, after punishment and he's so honest that he doesn't seem to get any protection," said the North End boss.
"He's taken another beating again at Tranmere and somewhere along the line I hope officials are going to start understanding what an honest player he is.
"He needs that level of protection that he's not getting right now."
