Where to watch Wimbledon 2018 tennis in London

It’s that time of year again. Get the Pimm's chilling and the strawberries and cream at the ready because Wimbledon will be taking over our screens for the best part of July.

If you can't make it to the courts themselves, here’s a round up of the best places to watch Wimbledon in London, listed in no particular order.

​The Aorangi Terrace – add that to your pub quiz knowledge – gets almost as oversubscribed as the courts themselves, so be sure to arrive early ahead of any match you’re hoping to catch. Murray may be out of sorts this year, but it's still a top viewing spot.

The West London hot spot is about to become even more popular. Bluebird on King's Road will show all the action on a giant outdoor screen in the courtyard. Rise to the occasion with a glass of Pimm's or champagne and indulge in the restaurant's cafe and BBQ menu. There’s even an exclusive three course set menu to sink your teeth into for the men’s finals on July 15.

The roof garden on top of Cardinal Place shopping centre will be screening the tournament throughout July. Simply pack a picnic and enjoy the action while eating al-fresco on the lawn.

The King's Cross screens are back and this year they're in association with the Summer of Love Film Festival which will show open-air films after the tennis. Grab a deck chair or perch on the "grassy" steps by Regent's Canal for a more authentic Wimbledon feel. There will also be street food from KERB and a bar serving up Pimm's, prosecco, beers and soft drinks.

Paddington Central

Looking for a way to spend your Saturday? How about a walk down by Little Venice before heading to Paddington Central to catch a game? They're tight lipped on details, so check in on their website for the match schedule. Nice spot, though.

London institution Bentley's is best known for its oysters and dining at the bar, but during Wimbledon, the pop-up Perrier Jouet terrace is most definitely the place to be. They've popped up a huge screen and there's room for more than 50. You'll eat and drink well here: there's a reason Bentley's is 102-years-old and still going strong.

The big screen is making a return to SE1 for Flat Iron Square’s Summer of Sport, showing both Wimbledon and the World Cup. There will also be an indoor screen as well as a selection of smaller screens dotted about, so there’s no way you can miss any of the games. Grab a spot in the courtyard and tuck into some grub from the eclectic food traders that surround it. As well as the four bars on site, there will also be pop-up wine bar from Tap & Bottle.

Cinnamon Kitchen, Devonshire Square

There will be an outdoor screen will be on offer in the garden as well as an indoor one for those trying to keep out the sun. As for the food, they’ll be offering set menus for the tennis, much like their World Cup menus.

South Place Hotel’s Secret Garden will have the matches screened and the drinks free-flowing, so you can watch the tennis in a beautiful botanical surrounding. For the final on July 15 South Place Hotel will offer Wimbledon themed cocktails, a pot of strawberries and cream and strawberries and cream flavoured popcorn.

Throughout the tournament, this famous French restaurant is showing the matches on a screen on the terrace, which has terrific views over the city, so if the matches themselves are a little dull, you won't be short of things to look at.

Here East are hosting the matches on a big screen in the Yard and there's plenty of food and drink to keep your strength up. There’s all going all out for the finals and offering guests sweet treats such as strawberries and cream.

Neverland at Fulham Beach Club

Fulham Beach Club will be showing the Wimbledon finals on 14-15 July, plus there’s even free entry for anyone who braves it in an all white tennis kit outfit. Otherwise, it’s £10 entry on Saturday and £5 on Sunday and the ticket covers a free glass Pimm's before 2pm and there will be enough strawberries and cream to give you a toothache.

The Refinery in Borough will host a large English garden-inspired outside area showing live coverage of all the tennis matches. In the spirit of all things British, they'll also have a Pimm's-themed afternoon tea and lashings of the spirit of course.
