Why Jadon Sancho to Chelsea transfer has not been confirmed as bizarre Man Utd clause revealed
Chelsea have completed a deal to sign Jadon Sancho on loan from Manchester United. Or have they?
The Blues were in the thick of the transfer action late on deadline day, with Raheem Sterling securing a move away from Stamford Bridge to reunite with Mikel Arteta at Arsenal. And Chelsea brought their own loan signing in in the form of Sancho.
Or at least that's what everybody understands to be the case. Because as yet, despite the transfer window closing at 11pm on Friday night, Chelsea have not confirmed the deal.
Manchester United, also, have not confirmed that Sancho has left, which leaves everything in a bit of a bizarre situation. Has Sancho actually left United to join Chelsea?
Clubs had until 11pm to complete deals, with an extra two hours allowed if a deal sheet was submitted to the Premier League by 11pm. Ordinarily, deals will then get announced after that.
But more than 12 hours after the window closed, a deal has not been announced, with Premier League ratification required before clubs can confirm transfers. That would appear not to have been given as yet.

The deal was agreed late on Friday as a loan, with the Blues having an obligation to buy Sancho at the end of the season. That deal is said to be worth somewhere between £20million and £25million, depending on where Chelsea finish in the Premier League this season.
There is also a bizarre clause which could see Sancho return to United and not sign for Chelsea permanently. According to reports, if Chelsea finish below 14th in the table the obligation to buy is void.
