Marc Cucurella has become something of a fans' favourite at Chelsea. Following a difficult start to life at Stamford Bridge, following a £60million move from Brighton in 2022, the Spaniard has established himself as the first-choice left-back.

Cucurella was heavily criticised in his first season in west London after that big-money move. More was expected of him.

But as Chelsea stuttered from manager to manager and through poor form, so did a number of players struggle for form. And Cucurella was one of those.

It did look like his time with the Blues would not last that long, but after working through some personal problems, Cucurella has become something of a cult hero at Stamford Bridge.

He has his own chant, which can regularly be heard around Stamford Bridge and opposing stadia. And that was the case after the Blues' win over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

Chelsea maintained third place in the Premier League with a 2-1 win away at Enzo Maresca's former employers. Cucurella played an important role and almost got an assist to his name. He played he ball across for Noni Madueke to score in the first half, but the Spaniard was in an offside position.

The 26-year-old has played in all but one of Chelsea's Premier League matches this season, starting nine of those. And with the visiting fans chanting his name at the King Power, Cucurella had to be forced to take the acclaim.

As the Chelsea players applauded the travelling fans, Wesley Fofana made a point of pushing Cucurella forward to lap up the fans' adoration, with the Spaniard further applauding the supporters to get a huge cheer.

It has been quite the turnaround for Cucurella in west London, who is finally living up to his £60million price tag.
