Wife Confirms UFC Veteran Corey Hill Dead at Age 36

The wife of former UFC fighter Corey Hill confirmed to TMZ Sports on Friday that her husband had passed away after battling a devastating illness.

Conflicting reports emerged on Thursday on the status of Hill. Friends of the his posted on social media that the 36-year-old fighter passed away Thursday morning following a bout of fungal pneumonia. Reports even led to his former employers, the UFC, to release a statement indicating that Hill had passed, but they later retracted the statement.

As of late Thursday afternoon, Hill's wife had said that contrary to reports, Hill was still alive and fighting for his life.

Unfortunately, it was a battle that Hill would not win.

In addition to his wife, Hill's manager, Patrick Reynolds, confirmed to MMAJunkie.com on Friday that Hill had passed.

Corey was a loving husband and devoted father,” Hill's wife told TMZ Sports in confirming her husband's death. “He was such a strong role model for our children, and would do anything to keep them safe and happy and healthy.

“[He was] a fighter til the end.”

Probably most well known for suffering a gruesome broken leg similar to the more recent injury that Anderson Silva suffered against Chris Weidman, Hill was a cast member during the fifth season of The Ultimate Fighter. He competed three times in the Octagon before suffering the leg injury that kept him out for more than a year.

Corey Hill was 36 years of age at the time of his death. He finished his professional career with an overall record of 6-9.
