Wigan Warriors could be boosted by the return of three key players for Sunday’s Channel 4 clash against Salford, coach Matt Peet revealed.
The Warriors enjoyed a thrilling 54-10 win over Wakefield at the DW Stadium on Easter Monday.
Australian prop Kaide Ellis impressed on his return following the completion of his five-match suspension alongside Ireland front-rowers Brad Singleton and Liam Byrne in the pack.
Speaking after the game, Peet said: “There were a few lads playing a bit busted after a short turnaround and Brad was one.
“I thought he played with a tremendous amount of courage and had a great affect on the game after a decent performance at St Helens.
“A few of the players said to me they were expecting big things with the way he (Kaide) was training. He was excellent.
“I was really pleased for him. The challenge for him now is for him to do that over a sustained period. I liked how direct he was in his carries and he had a single-minded approach which was good.
“The go-forward throughout the game from our front-rowers was good. Kaide, Patrick and Ethan as well as the way Liam and Brad started… I’d pay particular praise to their run-hard mentality.”
Wigan Warriors trio back for Sunday
Peet revealed that Willie Isa, Liam Marshall and Iain Thornley could all return for Sunday’s clash against Salford.
Prop Ollie Partington didn’t play against Wakefield due to a knock, but he has a chance of playing against Salford.
Wigan captain Tommy Leuluai will have a scan on his knee injury on Tuesday. The ex-New Zealand international limped off the field in Good Friday’s derby defeat at St Helens.
Sunday’s match against Salford will be the first time Wigan have been shown live on Channel 4.
