Wigan Warriors' emotional reason behind new 2025 kit as Liam Marshall shows gratitude
Wigan Warriors' star winger Liam Marshall has expressed his deep gratitude to the club for honouring his late mother, Debbie, and Wigan & Leigh Hospice, where she spent her final hours, in their 2025 kit design.
Debbie passed away on February 3 at the hospice, just a day after Liam welcomed his daughter Elsie into the world. The Warriors wore black armbands in a pre-season game against Hull FC that week, marking the beginning of the club's support for the Marshall family. Now, the Cherry and Whites have unveiled their most significant tribute yet to Debbie and the local hospice with their 2025 third kit.
The kit incorporates the charity's lilac logo colour and a daisy print on the sleeve trim. With only 1,500 shirts available for purchase, £5 from each sale will go directly to the hospice. The shirt also features the hospice’s logo on the front and Debbie’s name printed on the side, making for a touching tribute.

Marshall, who has scored 154 tries in 184 games for the club, said: "My family and I are, and always will be, incredibly grateful and appreciative for everything Wigan did as a club at the beginning of this year with regards to my mum.
"It is very fitting that this year’s charity partner is Wigan & Leigh Hospice, as this is where mum spent her final hours, and to have her memory and legacy remembered on a Wigan kit is an incredible gesture."
