Wikki Tourist want to climb up, insists Alegbe

The management of the Giant Elephants has mandated their players who are yet to arrive Bauchi to do so on or before Sunday

Victor Alegbe insists that he is concerned about Wikki Tourist's position in the Nigerian topflight table.

The Bauchi Elephants have so far failed to build on their impressive showings last season after strings of poor outings see them lie 16th in the log.

Alegbe is now keen on his side to start showing consistency as to improve their standing in the elite division.

"We are nervous about the league position and want to climb up the ladder," Alegbe told Goal.

"I'm concerned that history tells you it's not the position that matters, it's the points total you have against games you've played. It's very dangerous.

"We can't keep saying we're playing well but not getting results. Everyone at this club is being paid to win and we're not winning the games we should be winning," he added.

"I think we maybe need to go into games with more of a belief to try and implement our own style on away games.

"We have to look at ourselves individually and collectively and know that we need to be better if we want to pick up points away from home."

Wikki Tourist's next match in the Nigeria Professional Football League is at Umuahia against Abia Warriors on Wednesday.
