2001: Kate and William meet at St. Andrews University in Scotland, where William studies geography and Kate studies art history.

2002: Kate wears ‘that dress’ during a charity fashion show, which William attends. Later that year, the two become housemates, moving into a student house with two other friends.

2004: Their relationship becomes known to the public after the two are photographed together on a skiing holiday in Switzerland, but the couple remain extremely private.

2005: Kate issues statements via her lawyers asking paparazzi to stop hounding her.

2006: After graduating from St. Andrews in 2005, Kate works for her on and off for her parents’ company Party Pieces, before landing a job as an accessories buyer for Jigsaw. William has enrolled at the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst, kickstarting his military career.

December 2006: Kate attends William’s graduation ceremony at Sandhurst, which seems to be a pretty big step in the royal dating dynamic.

During this time, the media starts to brand the future princess as ‘Waity Katie’, as William is yet to propose. The attention definitely seems to add pressure to the couple, which isn’t too surprising considering the pair are around 24 at this time. They’re basically still kids.

January 2007: It’s heavily rumoured that Prince William will propose to Kate on her 25th birthday, but as her birthday comes and goes, the media scrutiny on ‘Waity Katie’ grows.

March 2007: The couple split after Kate reportedly gives William an ultimatum to either fully commit to her or to end things. After spending a week back home with her parents in Bucklebury, Berkshire, Kate is pictured partying in London in some very 2007 outfits.

In an interview after their eventual engagement, Kate admits that she ‘wasn’t happy’ about the split at the time, but the break up gave them both clarity on what they really wanted - which was each other. Awww.

July 2007: The couple’s split is short-lived, with the two rekindling their romance a few months later. They confirm they’re back on at a tribute concert for Princess Diana at Wembley Stadium.

April 2008: William receives his wings as a qualified RAF pilot, with Kate attending the formal ceremony.

June 2010: Kate and William move in together after relocating to Angelsey, Wales for William’s job in the RAF.

October 2010: William proposes to Kate during a holiday in Kenya.

November 2010: After managing to keep their news quiet for a few weeks, Clarence House confirms that the pair are engaged. The world IMPLODES.

29th April 2011: The couple are married at Westminster Abbey in a rather low key affair - a mere 2000 guests attend. An estimated two billion people around the globe tune in to watch the wedding of the decade.

January 2012: The newlyweds, now formally known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, adopt a dog called Lupo.

August 2012: Kate and William are absolute couple goals as they spend time together watching the 2012 Olympics in London.

December 2012: It’s revealed that William and Kate are expecting their first child. The palace is forced to confirm the news after Kate is admitted to hospital for acute morning sickness.

22nd July 2013: Kate gives birth to a son, Prince George, who becomes the third in line to the British throne at the tender age of zero.

October 2013: Kate and William, along with their families, hold a christening for Prince George at St. James’s Palace.

October 2014: It’s announced that the couple are expecting their second child.

2nd May 2015: Princess Charlotte is born, with her full name being Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, in tribute to William’s mother.

January 2016: William and Kate release photos of Prince George’s first day of nursery school, at Westacre Montessori School in Norfolk.

March 2016: The family marks their first holiday together, as the four head to the snowy French Alps - and pose for an adorable family photo.

September 2016: Prince George and Princess Charlotte join their parents on a royal tour of Canada, and naturally steal the show. Highlights include George going wild for bubbles and Charlotte becoming BFFs with a therapy dog at a kids’ party.

December 2016: William and Kate decide to take a break from tradition and spend Christmas with Kate’s family, and attend church on Christmas Day with George and Charlotte.

29th April 2017: Kate and William celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary. Their fairytale romance continues...
