Williams have become the latest team to confirm their 2023 Formula 1 car launch plans, set for Monday 6 February at 2pm GMT.

As it stands, this would now make them the first team to unveil their 2023 colours to the world, with Williams confirming their launch will be live streamed on their official app and website, though the name of the team’s new chassis was not contained within their announcement.

The team stopped short of saying their all-new car would be on display, however, stating that it may simply be a livery launch instead, as was the case with their 2022 car.

The Williams statement said of the launch: “You’ll hear from our new F1 driver duo Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant, the supremely talented Williams Racing Driver Academy and, of course, we’ll reveal our 2023 livery.”

Williams finished bottom of the Constructors’ Championship in 2022, but turned focus to their 2023 car mid-season when they realised achieving a higher placing would be unlikely, scoring eight points through the course of the year.

Alex Albon will be joined by a rookie as his team-mate in Formula 2 graduate Logan Sargeant, who will become America’s first Formula 1 driver since Alexander Rossi when he makes his debut in Bahrain.

Williams are still without a team principal, however, after the departure of Jost Capito at the end of 2022, with confirmation yet to be made about his replacement at the team.

This announcement now takes the number of Formula 1 car launches for 2023 up to six, with Williams having followed in the footsteps of Aston Martin, AlphaTauri, Ferrari, McLaren and Alpine in confirming the unveiling of their new challengers.

Three days of pre-season testing will take place in Bahrain from 23-25 February, before the 2023 season gets underway at the same circuit from 3-5 March.
