Lee, ranked eighth in the world and seeded third in Zhangjiagang, ousted home hope Tian Pengfei 4-2.

World number 16 Bingham, seeded fifth, was pushed to a decider by world number 11 and fourth seed Ding Junhui, eventually beating him 4-3.

Welshman Michael White beat Zhang Anda 4-3 in another close encounter to set up a last four clash with Bingham.

It was not all bad news for China though as Chen Zhe continued his good run by beating England’s Ben Woollaston 4-0.

He faces Lee, who won the PTC Grand Final in March, for a place in the final.

The event concludes on Friday with the semi-finals and final.

Last-16 round-up:

Ding Junhui reached the last eight after beating Robert Milkins 4-3, while world number three Mark Williams crashed out.

Ding's narrow victory sets up a last eight encounter against Stuart Bingham, who whitewashed Lin Shuai in the fourth round.

Williams's conqueror - his fellow Welshman Michael White, who handily defeated the former World champion 4-1 - meets Zhang Anda for a place in the semi-finals.

Stephen Lee, winner of the PTC Grand Final back in March, saw off Zhao Xintong 4-3 and plays another of the four remaining Chinese left, Tian Pengfei.

And rounding out the series of four Britain v China quarters, Ben Woollaston takes on Chen Zhe after the former's 4-2 victory over Cao Kaisheng and the latter's 4-3 win against Tom Ford.

The event concludes on Friday with the semi-finals and final.
