Jan. 27—Kloee Williamson tallied 35 points and McCauley Catholic won its third straight game on Friday night when the Warriors hosted Exeter for homecoming.
The Warriors held the Tigers to just 5 points in the third quarter and used that defensive effort to pull away for an eventual 46-38 win.
Williamson scored all 12 of McAuley's points in the opening quarter, added 5 in the second, 8 in the third and 10 in the fourth. The senior guard was 15 of 23 on free throws in the game.
This game puts Williamson at 77 points in her last two outings.
Junior Dawnee Sorenson tried to lead the charge for Exeter to make a comeback. She cashed in on 4 of 10 free throws and scored 6 points in the quarter but it wasn't enough.
Sorenson had 12 for the entire game and teammate Shea Hilburn, a sophomore, added 14 for the Tigers.
The Warriors scored 12 in the final frame and the Tigers registered 13.
McAuley Catholic is now 5-13 while Exeter is 5-8.
The Warriors will play at 8 p.m. Monday in the opening round of the 41st Annual Mercy/Warrior Classic. They will play College Heights.
