Hull KR boss Willie Peters highlighted a handful of players who impressed during his side’s 24-10 victory over Salford at the AJ Bell Stadium.

The 43-year-old Australian was a proud head coach following full-time, with his side fighting back from 4-0 down at the break to overturn the score.

Sam Wood scored twice on the night, alongside four-pointers from Frankie Halton and Ethan Ryan. Filling in at full-back for Lachlan Coote, Will Dagger kicked all eight points on offer from the kicking tee.

“I’m really proud of the players,” Peters said. “I thought that first half, we probably didn’t start or play the way we wanted to.

“But I thought as the game went on, we started to get our groove a bit more. We said at half-time, we didn’t have the energy we wanted to in the first period and we got that back.

“We stuck to the game plan in that second period really well. It shows the fans and clubs who we are, to go in at half-time 4-0 behind and not play our best rugby.”

The win sees the Robins go two from two under Willie Peters and takes them to the top of the Super League table, with several players impressing on the night.

Willie Peters on stand-out players

Peters continued: “I thought Dean Hadley and James Batchelor, guys like that did outstanding jobs through the middle.

“Jesse’s (Sauaso Sue) second stint with his carries were good. There was a lot of good players out there.

“Sam Wood was very good. He had a great pre-season and that transferred.

“Sam Luckley changed the game for us I thought. He powered through the middle third. And a couple of times he had his offload ready to go but we just didn’t have enough support in time.

“There was some good performers out there today.

“We had every excuse this week I suppose with a five day turnaround and had four players out, to go close enough is good enough.

“But that’s not who we want to be. We want to go out to compete and win every week.”
