The WNBA has joined the NBA 2K20 party.
The video game announced Thursday that multiple WNBA players will appear in NBA 2K20 and that all game modes featuring the WNBA players will be available on Sept. 6.

Candace Parker, A'ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart are among the players who were scanned earlier this summer to have their likeness appear in the game.
"Knowing the history of what it has taken to make NBA 2K the franchise it is today, we know this is just a small first step into the world of women’s basketball with the WNBA," NBA 2K producer Felicia Steenhouse said. "Getting to where we ultimately want to be is going to be a much longer journey. In true NBA 2K spirit, we intend to be trailblazers and we will push every year for the highest level of authenticity possible."
Parker expressed how excited she was to be able to see her likeness in a video game that normally is reserved for male athletes.
“Growing up, I always remembered watching male athletes on TV and playing as them in video games. Now, to have the WNBA be in the position we are and to have women featured prominently in NBA 2K20, we are allowing young girls and boys to have female athletes as role models,” she said. “The 2K team has done an amazing job of making sure to not just put women into the game playing men’s basketball, but I’ve seen first-hand the hard work they’re doing to make this as real and authentic as possible to women’s basketball. I’m proud to be a part of this team paving the way for the future.”
Stewart also said the video game prototypes are accurate and that she really can perform the moves on the court that are seen in the game.
"When I'm playing or when someone else is playing I can be like, 'Yeah, I did that'," Stewart said.
The developers and producers of the game worked with 3,000-5,000 animations to get the likeness, moves and flow of the players to match them as much as possible in real life.
"We have arrived," Parker said.
