Wolves will be sending striker Fabio Silva out on loan to Anderlecht for the upcoming season, according to a trustworthy journalist.

Silva was Wolves’ record signing when they brought him to the club as a teenager in 2020. It was something of a surprise move, given his lack of experience with Porto up to that point.

Consequently, Silva has struggled to hit the heights with Wolves so far. From 62 appearances for the club, he has only scored four goals.

Last season, he failed to find the net at all, despite featuring 26 times in all competitions. Therefore, his Wolves future could easily be in question.

A solution is about to arise, though. According to respected Portuguese journalist Pedro Sepulveda, who writes for SIC Noticias, Silva will sign for Anderlecht on loan for the upcoming season.

The Belgian club will cover all of the teenager’s wages, but will not have the option to buy him permanently at the end of the campaign.

They will be the third different club, in the third different country, Silva has represented during his career.

Anderlecht finished third in the Belgian First Division A last season. As a result, they will enter this year’s Europa Conference League in the third qualifying round.

Time right for Fabio Silva and Wolves to consider other options

Therefore, Silva could have European football on offer next term, which Wolves cannot match after coming 10th in the Premier League.

They were the lowest scoring side outside the bottom three in 2021-22. Hence, finding more reliable sources of goals will be important for them going forward.

As for Silva, escaping the pressure of the Premier League may be beneficial. But with a contract until 2025 and no purchase clause for Anderlecht, he will be hoping to enjoy a positive season away from Molineux so he can return a better player.

Up front, the Belgian club had Joshua Zirkzee and Christian Kouame on loan from Bayern Munich and Fiorentina respectively last season. Neither move became permanent, so it is easy to see why they have a vacancy for Silva to fill.
