Wolves vs Tottenham - LIVE!

Harry Kane came off the bench to make his first Tottenham Hotspur appearance of the season as Dele Alli's penalty earned coach Nuno Espirito Santo a 1-0 win on his return to his former club Wolves in the Premier League on Sunday.

Kane, who has been linked with a move to champions Manchester City all summer, came on in the second half and missed a great chance to immediately get on the scoresheet.

Alli's ninth-minute penalty, his first league goal since March 2020, was enough for Spurs to earn the win, however, as Nuno's first trip back to the club he brought up to the Premier League during a four-year spell between 2017 and 2021 ended successfully.

The result means Spurs have won two from two so far this season, both by a 1-0 scoreline.

Wolves and new coach Bruno Lage remain without a point after two defeats from their opening two league matches.

Wolves fans chant Nuno’s name as he walks off the pitch, with his Spurs side continuing their fine start to the season.

This win was not nearly as impressive as the victory over Man City but Spurs clung on and should really have killed the game sooner.

85min: Dier is now denied! A firm header from the corner before Hojberg takes a yellow to halt a Wolves break.

15:44 , Alex Young

81min: Kane denied!

He’s sent through one-on-one by Bergwijn against Sa, but the keeper stands tall to save.

As much as Wolves have dominated, Spurs have had chances to killthe game.

15:42 , Alex Young

79min: Marcel has a pop from distance, which isn’t troubling anyone. Approaching the final 10 minutes.

15:38 , Alex Young

76min: The pressure continues to crank up from Wolves. Dele and Skipp fly in on Trincao to stop him.

15:34 , Alex Young

15:21 , Alex Young

58min: More self-inflicted pressure from Spurs results in Trincao shooting straight at Lloris.

How long can they hold on for?

Dan Kilpatrick at Molineux

15:19 , Alex Young

The second half started in the same fashion as the first, although Spurs are starting to find space on the counter-attack as Wolves push forward.

Kane is among the Spurs subs warming up – but no sign of him being readied yet.

15:18 , Alex Young

55min: Son may be alright after all. He races through into the area and tried to square it to Dele, but Coady slides in to clear.

Son appeals for handball, but the referee isn’t having it.

15:15 , Alex Young

52min: Question marks over Son’s fitness, he’s not moving too comfortably.

Meanwhile, it’s just wave after wave of Wolves pressure.

15:13 , Alex Young

50min: Half a chance for Spurs as Son sends in a free kick from deep but Semedo does enough to clear.

15:11 , Alex Young

47min: Same pattern as the first half, already. Wolves on the front foot and Spurs unable to get out.

Back under way

15:07 , Alex Young

Here we go.

Second half

15:03 , Alex Young

Teams are back out. Almost time for the second half.

Dan Kilpatrick at Molineux

14:51 , Alex Young

Spurs have been disjointed and second best – but lead at Molineux through Dele’s penalty.

With Traore running the show, Spurs feel in more jeopardy than they did against City last weekend and they will surely need to improve after half-time.

If only they had a game-changer on the bench...

14:51 , Alex Young

50min: That’s that. Spurs must be exhausted.

14:49 , Alex Young

48min: A Lloris goal kick is punted straight to Traore. Sanchez has a 10-yard head start on the winger and only just gets back to clear.

14:47 , Alex Young

46min: Five minutes added on. Spurs need half-time.

14:46 , Alex Young

45min: Neves with a volley from the edge of the area. Straight at Lloris, easy one.

14:45 , Alex Young

44min: Skipp into the book for a challenge on Traore. He brilliantly won the ball, but it was from behind.

14:42 , Alex Young

41min: He’s going to be OK.

14:41 , Alex Young

40min: Break in play as Marcel is given medical treatment.

14:40 , Alex Young

38min: Tanganga into the book for a foul on Marcel.

Walking the tightrope against Traore, now and almost an hour left of the game to play.

14:39 , Alex Young

37min: Bergwijn almost puts it on a plate for Dele but it’s a yard behind him... then the offside flag goes up.

Dan Kilpatrick at Molineux

14:36 , Alex Young

Spurs are really struggling to cope with Traore, who is dominating Tanganga one-v-one.

Nuno seems reluctant to send Lucas Moura back to help out, so Hojbjerg is doubling up on the Spain winger. That’s leaving space in the middle for Wolves to play through Spurs.

14:35 , Alex Young

33min: Easier said than done, of course.

Especially when Spurs’ game plan appears to be to hit it long given the Wolves press is so suffocating.

14:32 , Alex Young

31min: A Wolves goal is starting to feel inevitable. Spurs just need to keep the ball for a little bit, calm the game down.

14:29 , Alex Young

27min: Jimenez had to score!

Traore has Tanganga on toast for the fourth time, surges into the area and Jimenez’s curled effort fizzes over the bar.

14:28 , Alex Young

26min: Spurs get their foot on the ball for more than a few seconds, but the Wolves press is unrelenting.

Eventually Hojbjerg tries to find Son but it’s easily cut out.

Dan Kilpatrick at Molineux

14:24 , Alex Young

Tottenham’s defenders were composed and in control against City last weekend but they have looked jittery so far this afternoon, particularly Davinson Sanchez, who is not enjoying the twin threat of Raul Jimenez and Adama.

14:24 , Alex Young

23min: Neves has a pop from distance - he’ll do that - but it’s well high and well wide.

14:21 , Alex Young

19min: Wolves really cranking up the pressure as Jimenez gets the better of Sanchez to squeeze a shot across the face of goal.

14:19 , Alex Young

18min: Traore is causing Tanganga all sorts of trouble on the left. Three times he’s beaten him, but yet to produce an end product.

Dan Kilpatrick at Molineux

14:17 , Alex Young

Dele didn’t have a single touch in Man City’s box last weekend but impressed with his harrying and pressing.

The penalty came from a darting run into the box, proving the he has no entirely sacrificed his old strengths in this new midfield role.

14:15 , Alex Young

14min: Up the other end, Wolves want a penalty as Semedo goes down under pressure on Skipp but there’s little in it.

14:10 , Alex Young

9min: Dele makes no mistake! Sends Sa the wrong way.

14:09 , Alex Young

8min: Sa wipes out Dele.

14:05 , Alex Young

5min: A nasty clash of heads between Tanganga and Marcel. They should be OK, after a lengthy medical check.

14:03 , Alex Young

3min: It’s a fast start from Wolves, pumped up by the return of fans. Traore seeing plenty of the ball.

14:00 , Alex Young

1min: Here we go!

Almost time

13:58 , Alex Young

Here come the teams.

13:48 , Alex Young

An injury to Heung-min Son may have just been a scare. I mean, they’ve got the best striker in Europe on the bench so it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.

Son a doubt?

13:45 , Alex Young

Uh oh.

Tottenham are unchanged from the team which beat Man City last time out.

Kane is on the bench and Lloris makes his 300th Premier League appearance, a new club record.

Nuno is back at his old stomping ground.

Lloris the record-breaker

With all the talk about Harry Kane, it’s gone somewhat under the radar that Hugo Lloris is making his 300th Premier League appearance for the club. A record.

Wolves were narrowly beaten at Leicester last weekend, and it should prove to be a tight game once again for Bruno Lage’s men.

A goal either way should be enough, but both teams would probably shake on a point right now.

Wolves team news

12:30 , Alex Young

Wolves have no new fresh injury concerns.

Daniel Podence, Jonny Castro Otto, Pedro, Yerson Mosquera, Hugo Bueno and Owen Otasowie are sidelined, and Willy Boly is expected to miss out with a hamstring strain.

Tottenham team news

Tottenham wantaway striker Harry Kane has travelled with the squad to face Wolves this afternoon and could take his place among the substitutes.

With the England captain still angling for a move away from the club, Nuno Espirito Santo may ultimately decide to stick with Lucas Moura, Heung-min Son and Steven Bergwijn as an effective trio on the counter-attack.

Elsewhere, Giovani Lo Celso and Harry Winks did little against Pacos de Ferreira on Thursday to suggest they merit a recall ahead of Oliver Skipp in midfield, while Nuno has already confirmed that Tanguy Ndombele - another who wants to leave - will not feature.

Cristian Romero has reportedly not travelled so will have to wait for his full Premier League debut. Fellow centre-backs Cameron Carter-Vickers and Joe Rodon are sidelined through injury.

Fellow new signing Bryan Gil will also be hoping for a Premier League bow after showing flashes in the Europa Conference League defeat.
