Woman arrested after ‘homophobic abuse’ of nurse in Liverpool hospital

A woman has been arrested after a nurse was allegedly subjected to homophobic abuse in a hospital.

Merseyside Police officers were called to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital at 9.25pm on January 12 after reports of three women causing distress to patients, staff and visitors.

One of the women reportedly directed homophobic abuse towards a male nurse before the women were removed from the hospital by security.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said a 33-year-old woman from Kensington, Liverpool, was arrested on suspicion of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

She was taken to a police station for questioning and has since been released on conditional bail pending further inquiries, the spokesman said.
