Drogba was surprisingly named as a substitute for Ivory Coast's opening game, which saw the Elephants come from behind to beat Japan 2-1.

The former Chelsea star came on in the second half and made a positive contribution as goals from Wilfried Bony and Gervinho gave Ivory Coast three points in their Group C opener in Recife.

However, coach Sabri Lamouchi has again opted to start with Swansea striker Bony as his only centre-forward.

Drogba has scored 65 goals in 102 caps for Ivory Coast.
