The Uruguay international has had knee surgery just three weeks before their first game against Costa Rica on June 14.
But the Liverpool striker has claimed that he will be back in time for that clash.
“My dream remains intact,” he posted on his official Twitter page. “I will be there #WorldCup.
“Thank you very much for the messages of support, love and encouragement throughout the day!
“The strength that my loved ones give me will make me work hard to reach the World Cup. My family and I are very grateful to all of you!!”
Uruguay have been drawn in Group D alongside England, Italy and the Central American side.
