World's most expensive ready meal unveiled - a £300 swish fish pie

Chef Charlie Bigham has created an opulent salmon, champagne and oyster pie that comes with its own security guard

Who said that ready meals can’t be fancy?

Chef Charlie Bingham has taken the simple comfort food to a whole new level with the creation of the Swish Pie – the world’s most expensive ready meal.

Coming in at a whopping £314.16, the fish pie is the ultimate in stay-at-home luxury for a couple that don’t care how much they spend on a meal.

Packed with ‘exclusive and opulent’ ingredients, the pie for two does sound pretty damn mouthwatering.

It begins with Balik salmon (the finest salmon in the world, naturally) poached in vintage Dom Perignon champagne alongside wild turbot, salted oysters and scallops.

If the champagne and oysters weren’t enough, the pie also includes White Alba truffles, again the world’s finest, which are said to be an aphrodisiac.

The intensely fishy filling is topped off with a cheesy mash and two fresh Cornish lobster nests as well as some Beluga caviar on Mother of Pearl spoons.

Unsurprisingly, the dish is so precious that each pie is hand-delivered by a professional security guard, who is handcuffed to the meal until it is delivered safely.

We’ve heard of pricey puds and expensive eateries but all that just to stick it in the oven at home seems a little crazy.

According to chef and creator Charlie Bigham: ‘We always set out to create the very best versions of people’s favourite dishes.‘With the Swish Pie we went all out using the most exclusive ingredients to create a unique dish that really is the best ready meal ever made!’

Charlie’s Twosomes (meals for two) are available from Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and Ocado but you won’t find a Swish Pie on any old supermarket shelf.

The pies will be available to order directly from Charlie’s website from today and if you try it, do let us know if it was worth it!
