Wolves were always going to feature heavily in the Premier League weekend’s worst XI after they caved in at Brighton. But one of two Leeds flops recorded the lowest score of any player this season.

Here are the 11 worst performers according to Whoscored ratings…

GK: Illan Meslier – 3.98
It was a rotten weekend for Premier League keepers with half a dozen recording sub-six scores. Jose Sa (4.35), while shipping six to Brighton, couldn’t even manage a five. But this was the latest in a series of stinkers for Meslier, who made two more errors – the first was awful – in Leeds’ pathetic defeat at Bournemouth. Does he keep his place after recording the lowest score of any player in the Premier League this season?

RB: Nelson Semedo – 5.86
The first of eight Wolves players in this XI after only Pedro Neto of their starters in the battering at Brighton managed to scrape a six. Semedo was one of three players hooked at half-time by Julen Lopetegui after the Seagulls scored four in the first period.

CB: Craig Dawson – 5.62
Another of the quartet in the shower before the second half kicked off, Dawson wasn’t directly at fault for any of Brighton’s first four, which is as positive as anyone could be about the centre-back’s performance. Max Kilman was lucky to avoid selection after he scored 5.63 while losing Danny Welbeck for the fourth.

CB: Robin Koch – 5.56
One of three Leeds centre-backs, Koch was dribbled past three times, managing only one tackle while Bournemouth had their way with Javi Gracia’s wretched rabble. The third goal could be attributed to the German, who showed all the mobility of a lamppost while trying to deal with a low cross.

LB: Hugo Bueno – 5.61
Bueno had the lowest score of any Wolves defender but he was certainly not its weakest link. Got no support from Matheus Nunes – more on him later – and was better on the ball than many of his teammates.

MF: Mario Lemina – 5.18
Lemina was a passenger in a Wolves midfield completely bypassed by Brighton. A sloppy error almost gifted the Seagulls another goal to go with the four they scored in the first half, while Lemina was dribbled past as many times as he made a tackle.

MF: Ruben Neves – 5.76
Neves tried to get Wolves going with a couple of key passes but he was always swimming against the tide. Almost a quarter of his touches led to a turnover – 13 in total – and he lost all three duels in which he competed.

MF: James Ward-Prowse – 5.84
With talk of Newcastle being interested in Ward-Prowse if when Southampton go down, the Saints skipper chose a bad day to have a bad game. The midfielder lost possession 10 times while winning only one of his five duels. Any excuse? He was ill last week, coming off at half-time in the defeat to Bournemouth.

RW: Joao Gomes – 5.71
Another of Lopetegui’s half-time changes, Gomes spent 45 minutes seemingly in a daze while Brighton bossed Wolves. Completed 14 passes but gave the ball away seven times before being put out of his misery.

LW: Matheus Nunes – 5.19
If Liverpool were watching Nunes at Brighton, they won’t bother again after his worst performance in a Wolves shirt. The Portuguese midfielder gave the ball away for Brighton’s first and last goals and wasted a great opportunity to equalise.

FWD: Diego Costa – 5.68
The Wolves striker spent 45 minutes in the pocket of Brighton’s defenders. He managed a total of 10 touches and six accurate passes. Not a shot, dribble, cross or key pass. Nor did he win a duel, losing all four in which he competed.
