WSOF Cancels Next Two Events

World Series of Fighting has canceled its next two live events. Instead of spreading resources around on two lesser events, the promotion is expected to put all its efforts into promoting the biggest show possible for Dec. 31 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

MMAWeekly.com confirmed news of the cancellations with independent sources that have direct knowledge of the situation, following an initial report by MMAMania.com.

WSOF 34: Fitch vs. Shields had been scheduled for Nov. 12 at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colo., while WSOF 35 was slated for Dec. 3 at Xfinity Arena in Everett, Wash. WSOF officials are expected to move several of the bouts from those events to its Dec. 31 fight card at The Theater at Madison Square Garden, including Jon Fitch vs. Jake Shields.

It's a significant move for World Series of Fighting, as industry insiders continue to talk about how the promotion has been struggling to define a clear direction for its business.

WSOF needs to make a big splash at its New Year's Eve event, which will be televised live on NBC.
