Going into the penultimate meeting of the season at the Shanghai International Circuit, Huff and Muller are tied at the top of the driver standings on 345 points.
And with just four chances left to pick up points this campaign, Huff knows every remaining race is hugely significant as he bids to go one better than last year and claim the championship title.
"This weekend’s aim is to increase my points tally and distance myself from current world champion Muller," said Huff, who finished second behind the Frenchman in the overall standings last season.
"Despite being team-mates, this year I want to go one better and end his WTCC title reign.”
Huff has enjoyed a stellar season this time around, winning four races and ending on the podium 14 times.
“These remaining races are extremely important,” added Huff. “I’m in a good position, and my determination will hopefully prove to be the deciding factor that puts me out on top.
Huff, Muller and fellow team-mate Alain Menu have already combined to win the manufacturers' championship for Chevrolet at the last meeting in Japan, extending the team's hold on the trophy to three consecutive years.
