This will be the WTCC’s fourth visit to the 4.8-kilometre street circuit that winds around the city park and along the sea front.
The Mayor of Porto, Rui Rio stated: “I will experience this edition of the Circuito da Boavista exactly the same way and I hope my successors won't waste the investment we have made with the aim of strengthening an internationally renowned mark of this city. It meant hard work, risk taking and it was not a simple task. However, I believe it's worth all of it.”
François Ribeiro Motorsport Development Director at Eurosport Events commented: “Porto is one of the WTCC drivers’ favourite events. Nice weather, a charming location, a demanding street circuit and a huge crowd of enthusiastic fans. Therefore we are always pleased to come back. And we are very grateful to Porto’s municipality for welcoming us warmly and also for the huge effort they make, together with Porto Lazer and FPAK, to adjust the track’s layout to the FIA standards. Our competitors will surely do their best to pay back, offering a great show on the track.”
