Wycombe Wanderers boss Matt Bloomfield breaks silence on Coventry City next manager links
One of the reported leading contenders to replace Mark Robins at Coventry City has dismissed links with the vacancy as “just speculation”.
Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield has been among the bookies’ favourites since Sky Blues’ owner Doug King sacked the club’s long-standing and hugely popular manager on Thursday, sparking a backlash from angry fans of the club.
Bloomfield has led the Chairboys to the top of League One which has caught the interest of Championship clubs. The 40-year-old spent the entirety of his professional playing career at Adams Park, spanning almost two decades before being appointed Colchester head coach in September 2022. He soon returned to Wycombe, taking over from Gareth Ainsworth, where he has built a reputation as one of the most exciting young coaches in the Football League.

But asked about the links to the CBS Arena vacancy, Bloomfield told the BucksFreePress: “I’ve not heard anything from my club. As far as I am concerned, it is just speculation.
“It is lovely to be linked with jobs higher up the food chain as it shows that the job you are doing is the right one. I haven’t had any time to sit and think, and as far as I am concerned, there is nothing to think about.
“My only focus is this football club. This club means a lot to me, the fans means a lot to me, and the players have my sole focus.”
