Xavier's Trevon Bluiett faces misdemeanor marijuana charge

Police say the junior who averaged 18.5 ppg this season was in possession of about 30 grams of marijuana during a traffic stop in Indiana.

Xavier star guard Trevon Bluiett, who hasdeclared for the NBA Draft but hasn't hired an agent,was arrested Monday afternoon in Carmel, Ind., on a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana, hash oil or hashish, according to Hamilton County Jail records (via IndyStar.com).

A statement from the Carmel Police Department said Bluiett was stopped for allegedly driving 75 mph in a 55-mph zone and failing to signal a lane change. During the traffic stop, police described a "strong odor" of marijuana coming from inside the 2003 Chevrolet andsaidthey foundabout 30 grams of marijuanain Bluiett'spossession — a Class B misdemeanor.

"We are aware of the story and are looking into it," Xavier spokesman Tom Eiser said in a text message.

One of the Big East's top players,Bluiett averaged 18.5 points per game as a junior thisseason as Xavier reached the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament before falling to Gonzaga.

According to Draft Express, he is the No. 41 junior on its board.
