Yahoo Sport UK horse racing Lucky 15 – Friday’s top selections

Yahoo Sport UK has teamed up with Bet4Causes to bring you a preview of the day’s British racing – and The Night Hawk marks your card.

Each day we will mark your card, providing a preview of the day’s racing and offering what the experts feel will be the value bets of the day.

After successive winning NAP selections in the last two days, take a look at our Lucky 15 selections (four singles, six doubles, four trebles and a four-fold) for the British meetings on Friday, November 4, 2016.

LUCKY 15 SELECTIONS

YUKON DELTA (Fontwell 1.00) gets the NAP vote today, as we feel he looks capable of landing the 10-runner 3m1½f handicap hurdle for trainer Gary Moore. Trainer form is everything and the Lower Beeding handler has his string in ripe early-season form, sending out six winners in the past seven days. The selection scored at Plumpton a couple of weeks ago over an inadequate 2m4f on only his fourth start for the yard, the aid of blinkers appeared to help. Though he goes up 7lb for that success, a return to a trip that he should be more comfortable over, coupled with the fact that this looks a decidedly weak race, and the selection has plenty in his favour.

BOURBONISTO (Newcastle 4.20) has not really progressed since making his debut at Doncaster in May, Ben Haslam has decided that a step up in trip might make all the difference as he attempts to get off the mark in the 7f nursery. Not that he has been beaten far in his first two juvenile handicaps – on the contrary. There was plenty to like about the way he knuckled down in a Class 2 York 6f handicap in July and he made significant late headway to be third on his last start in a Class 5 affair over a similar trip at Hamiton in August. Having had a break since and if fully wound up, he should be thereabouts.

BLUE HERON (Warwick 2.00) would appear to hold an outstanding chance of taking the 2m novices’ chase for trainer Dan Skelton. Just three are due to line up for a decent pot and he appears to have scared off a few potential rivals. That is unsurprising, given that he was a good winner of the 2015 Grade 2 Kingwell Hurdle and he looked as though he would come on for the run on his return to action after an 18-month break when beaten in a similar three-runner novices’ chase at Market Rasen three weeks ago. Compensation should be forthcoming today.

RYLEDALE RACER (Hexham 1.45) is not the biggest horse but he is a good jumper and that ability won the day when beating an odds-on favourite in a 2m4f novices’ hurdle at Carlisle last month off a mark of 120. What he lacks in scope, he more than makes up for in courage and he will need bags of it to give weight away to his four rivals in a similar event today. Malcolm Jefferson appears to have found the five-year-old another good landing spot, though, and he may well follow up.
