Yahoo Sport UK’s horse racing Lucky 15 – Thursday’s top selections

Yahoo Sport UK has teamed up with Bet4Causes to bring you a preview of the day’s British racing – and The Night Hawk marks your card.

Each day we will provide you with a preview of the day’s racing, offering what the experts feel will be the value bets of the day.

After a winning NAP selection yesterday, take a look at our Lucky 15 selections (four singles, six doubles, four trebles and a four-fold) for the British meetings on Thursday, September 29, 2016.

LUCKY 15 SELECTIONS

MISTER BLUE SKY (Newcastle 2.10) landed a soft-ground novice auction race over 6f at Nottingham in June, and has subsequently been runner-up in three of his four appearances, latterly when short-headed by Sea Shack at Goodwood over 7f a week ago. Trained by Sylvester Kirk, this son of Royal Applause is a big, scopey type and whatever he achieves in his juvenile campaign is a bonus, as he should make up into a decent performer next year and beyond. This mile should be right up his street and there is room for improvement off his current mark of 74.

HARLEQUIN ROSE (Brighton 1.50) found the drop into Class 6 company a little easier at Ffos Las last time, having been easily beaten in her three previous runs in maidens. While she could not score of a mark of 49 on her nursery debut in the first-time visor at last time, she was not beaten far by Kings Heart over the 6f trip. She showed plenty of speed and was quite well supported in the market, so Mick Channon’s filly may take advantage off the same mark, which looks on the low side. She looks a likely improver in a weak race.

KESTREL DOT COM (Chelmsford City 7.40) has gone close in two relatively decent 1m handicaps for Chris Dwyer on his last two runs. Having got off the mark at the fourth attempt at Leicester in May, the four-year-old Oasis Dream gelding has upped his game since being fitted with a hood, twice beaten under two lengths at Yarmouth. He has pulled hard both times and while he needs to learn to settle, Sylvestre De Sousa has struck up a good partnership with him and they hold a fair chance of landing this 15-runner affair, despite shouldering top weight.

BARMAN (Warwick 3.40) ran with a little too much exuberance at Stratford in a bid for a four-timer and was third of six, beaten six lengths by Rosetti over that 2m trip. He may have finished closer but for an awkward jump two from home. He was raised 7lb for winning at Worcester but is now 1lb lower off a mark of 123 and in a decidedly competitive 2m handicap hurdle, Nicky Henderson’s charge may just have enough improvement in him to win gain.
